How can you take action on global warming? There is your own personal action, and action that involves co-ordination with others - especially if you think that the responses from governments, big business, and the scientific establishment could be more definite! A book - 'How We Can Save the Planet (2004)' by Mayer Hillman. A lucid summary of the threat posed by climate change and the various proposed solutions. Hillman keeps the narrative lively while making it crystal clear what he expects us - as individuals and societies - to do. The last part of the book introduces the notion of personal carbon rations and offers suggestions on how to calculate and live within your own.  
A book - 'Climate Change begins at Home (2005)' by Dave Reay. Reay brings a laser-like focus and a light touch to the task of reducing your household's carbon emissions, as brought to life through a fictional family called the Carbones. What could have been a dour series of orders is instead a creative, thought-provoking guide to tackling climate change on a personal level.  
Donating money - 'Friends of the Oceans' is a UK based organisation that is trying to augment the funding of the Sir Alister Hardy Foundation for Ocean Science, which carries out important research into the health of the oceans.
