In some of the Research Assistant work that I have done, for example, at the University of Strathclyde, I was able to develop a system to show numbers of head of households in particular occupations visually against a map of Glasgow, with further developments on this theme being carried out at later stages. I was also able to do this at the University of Exeter where information was shown against a ‘rough’ map of Devon. This latter work was carried out using ArcInfo and ArcView, with some use of SPSS as well.
